Total Dose = (Carbs / ICR) + (Current BG − Target BG) / CF
ICR = Insulin-to-Carb Ratio (units per grams of carbs). CF = Correction Factor (how many mg/dL one unit of insulin lowers BG). Values are set by your doctor.
📝 Worked Example
Eating 60g carbs, ICR = 1:15. BG = 200 mg/dL, Target = 120, CF = 40:
Meal bolus = 60/15 = 4 units
Correction = (200−120)/40 = 2 units
Total = 6 units
